About Ben

A while ago I wanted to get more fit - lost a few pounds, got excited about the success, and found myself really curious about how our bodies go about getting stronger, leaner, healthier, etc. I am a mechanical engineer, so learning the science behind health and fitness really appealed to me. Lo and behold, the best way I could find to get my hands on good information was to study to become a certified personal trainer. So here I am!

I'm an average guy who was able to lose 40 pounds, work my way up to being able to do pullups and one-armed pushups for the first time in my life, and drop my 5k time by 4 minutes (in my 40s) from my previous personal record (set in my 20s).

Achieving success made me really want to share what I learned, to be able to help others. Seeing clients make progress, hit goals, and overcome challenges makes all the effort worth it. Additionally, I love to continue gathering data/experience on what works for people - finding out the mysteries behind turning theory into reality.

So far, I've successfully coached clients (mostly middle-aged) to lose weight, build muscle, improve health, and build up from 0 to 5k racing. This has been a mix of virtual and in-person training. To me, the key to success (and the largest benefit to personal training) is finding the tailored solution to the individual's goals, based on their background, personality, and habits.
